Project Features

  • The neutral, calm, warm tones pair well with the homeowners’ favorite color, blue.  Textures and pops of color were also desired. 

  • Designing the kitchen to maximize functionality, storage and lighting was easy.  There were opportunities for which kitchen countertop and cabinet color would be best.  Lake blue colored cabinets from Crown Point Cabinetry in Claremont , NH and a granite that has a soapstone appeal is perfect. Many conversations were around just the right amount of blue…perfect!!!  Wicker island stools and linen backsplash tiles provide awesome texture.  A walk-in pantry provides plenty of storage and a dry bar area.  

  • The kitchen is connected to the dining room and the living rooms, which are the perfect place to sit, eat or read or watch tv.   The fireplace stone, paired with a cool gray cabinetry is quite lovely with the white oak wood flooring., which is used on the entire first floor. The sofa is a neutral backdrop contrasted by reclining cognac leather chairs.   The window seat is the perfect place to read or provide additional seating for the plentitude of guests often associated with a lake home. 
     

  • The white oak beams are hand hewn and stained for an old appeal and new to prevent owner’s allergies acting up

  • The primary suite is the perfect place to relax from entertaining and pamper oneself in the marble shower.  His and hers wooden vanities recognize the need for individual spaces while offering plenty of storage. 

  • The lake level (certainly not a walk out basement here!) provides 3 guest bedrooms with quite the view.   There’s a lot of natural curves from the flat stones to lines in a graphic tile, contrasted by the updated sized white subway tiles and paired with quartz in marble looking patterns.  

  • What a wonderful way to enjoy a day at the lake or a forever stay.

  • The wood floors are white oak flooring with a custom factory finish in various lengths by Carlisle Wood Flooring in Stoddard, NH.  Truly shows the natural beauty and pairs well with painted white and white oak doors throughout the home.

The Process

Meetings, drafting, 3d views, floor plan, elevations, construction drawings, product selections at showrooms, product specifications, on site progress meetings, furnishing selections.

We absolutely loved working with Marcia. We were connected with her through our builder who contracted Marcia to design our dream lake home and she was pretty much part of our family for 1 1/2 years through the entire design/ build process, including furnishings. She uses a 3 D design modeling tool which helps her clients try on different design details and was extremely helpful in allowing us to visualize what the actual house would look like. It was so fun watching our vision come to life. This tool was especially helpful given we lived 5 hours away. Marcia is an amazing communicator and always so positive. Where others say “I have to”, Marcia says “I get to”. She is so talented and gives you her honest opinion which is what we needed and valued. When designing an open floor plan and making furniture choices it is often difficult to see how it will all pull together but Marcia was great at advising us and we had total confidence in her. When building a custom home, the selection process can be overwhelming but Marcia made it fun for us and took charge. We always felt like we were in good hands and absolutely love our new house. If you are looking for a talented experienced designer who understands every aspect of the home design process and has amazing relationships with suppliers and contractors, I highly recommend Marcia.
